UsersWP has separate redirect settings for login, logout and registration, and a few other settings decide whether they are used at all. If users land on the home page or stay where they were, go through the checks below in order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Set the login redirect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to UsersWP > General > Login.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Choose a page in Login Redirect Page. “Last User Page” sends users back to the page they came from, “Default Redirect” uses the WordPress default, and “Custom Redirect” uses the URL you enter in Redirect Custom URL.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Set Logout Redirect Page on the same screen if you want a page after logout too.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Save the settings.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    To send users to their own profile, pick your UsersWP profile page. UsersWP turns that into the logged in user’s profile URL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The login lightbox reloads the page instead<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    With Login Lightbox enabled, login links in menus open a popup, and by default the current page just reloads after a successful login. That is on purpose: the user stays on the page they were reading. To make the popup follow your redirect setting, tick Enable Login Lightbox Redirect on UsersWP > General > Login. You can also turn the lightbox off for menu links, see How to disable modal login\/register for UsersWP navigation endpoints<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Role based redirects override the general setting<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    UsersWP > Redirects has a Login Redirect Page for each user role. Once that screen has been saved, the value for the user’s role is used instead of the general one. If the general setting looks right but nothing changes, check the row for your users’ role (usually Subscriber). More detail is in Settings overview for UsersWP > Redirects<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    A redirect_to in the link wins<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    If the login URL carries a redirect_to<\/code> parameter, for example \/login\/?redirect_to=...<\/code>, UsersWP uses that before any setting. Some plugins and themes add it to their login links. The same applies to the Redirect to option of the UsersWP Login block or [uwp_login]<\/code> shortcode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Registration redirect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    The page a new user goes to after signing up is set per registration form, not on the General tab:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. Go to UsersWP > User Types and edit the form.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    2. Set Registration Action to Auto Approve + Auto Login.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    3. Choose the Redirect Page (or a Custom Redirect URL) and save.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

      The registration redirect only happens with Auto Approve + Auto Login. With Require Email Activation or plain Auto Approve, the user is not logged in yet, so UsersWP shows a message on the form instead of redirecting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Still going to the home page<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      Another plugin can redirect users after login, membership and security plugins often do. Switch other plugins off on a staging copy and test again. Also log in through the UsersWP login page itself: logging in on wp-login.php does not use the UsersWP redirect unless you redirect wp-login.php to UsersWP with the Redirect wp-login.php? option.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
