I am using WPGeodirectory with UsersWp. My WordPress author’s profile page shows a 404 error when I navigate to the /author/username URI. I easily corrected this for just my user by adding a redirect via Yoast SEO to profile/james-hill-2/ where that last string is the string I determined from my WPGeodirectory profile and not my WordPress username. Question, is there a way to automatically redirect all new and existing user’s /author/username WordPress page to their /profile/WPGeoUsername page so that it shows their very nice WPGeo profile? Otherwise I will have to add redirects for each new and existing user, and determine their profile ID string.

    Hello,

Have you already checked the settings at :

UsersWP – Geodirectory – Redirect GD dashboard my listing link to UsersWP profile

Let me know if I misunderstood what you are asking.

The Google Search Console saw the default author slug as /author/username which now shows a 404 error. This came about through the Authors section of the Yoast produced site map. Then as I continued designing the site and adding the fantastic UsersWP extension the /authors/username page began showing a 404 error. I do have both of the redirect options selected in UsersWP. Now that I have a redirect in place the site map shows the correct author profile page driven by WPGeo. Sitemap

OK, this is a Yoast setting. Try unchecking the option:

“Disable author archives” will make the GD profile pages disappear.”

I understand, and wonder if there is a way to have author profiles exposed in the site map. I’ll dig into this further. That setting in Yoast was set to “Enable Author Profiles.” I’ll talk to the Yoast folks about this.
