I removed reviews initially because they were showing CPT’s I didn’t want to be shown (like my CPT Earhtlings which I don’t want active yet and I don’t want reviews for). I think there needs to be a way to select CPT’s to show in the reviews tab. I have the Earthlings CPT hidden everywhere else because GD gives me the ability to do so.

Or just don’t show CPT’s that have no reviews. This would be ideal for all the tabs. Like listings for example. It would be easier for the front end user to only see tabs that have content. And it would be faster to see content if when they click on reviews or listings the CPT that appears first is the one that has the most reviews/listings. This would give the visitor information right away.

The way it is setup now for example it automatically goes to the CPT I created called “places” (yes, I created one called places, I used the default one for “organizations” and then later decided I needed places, lol). Because places are not as common on my site as the “Restaurant” CPT most users will not have a “Place” or even review one (at least for some time). So, whenever you go to a user and click reviews or listings the visitor invariably sees nothing. Then the visitor has to do more work before they are stimulated… For example, see my user account, even though i have 7 reviews when you go to my reviews there zero because it lands on places. I don’t know if there’s a way to rearrange these so that the first it lands on is restaurants CPT but that would be ideal. And it would be ideal to hide the Earthling CPT since there are no listings or reviews for earthlings at this time. https://veganlinked.com/profile/vegan/reviews/

Oh, man, I think originally it was showing the reviews as comments and this made me think the reviews were just showing as comments. I didn’t think about UWP tying into posts comments.

I did put reviews back into the tabs. I noticed my reviews are showing for my listing but they’re not showing for Ann who has three.
See how she has no reviews: https://veganlinked.com/profile/ann-green/reviews/
    Here’s a review by Ann: https://veganlinked.com/food/united-states/north-carolina/asheville/plant/

I did notice that Ann’s comment doesn’t have her name hyperlinked. It also shows an avatar. In this comment where she is the author responding to a comment on her listing her name is hyperlinked but it does not show an avatar. https://veganlinked.com/in/united-states/north-carolina/asheville/asheville-vegan-society/

Then there’s this comment where Ann’s avatar is not showing and the link is working. It too is a listing (an event) she posted where she’s responding to a comment.

Then there’s this listing where Ann has an avatar and no link but she’s not the owner. https://veganlinked.com/food/united-states/north-carolina/hendersonville/sanctuary-brewing-company/#reviews and lastly this listing: https://veganlinked.com/food/united-states/north-carolina/horse-shoe/garlik-vegan/#reviews

So, to sum it up. When Ann responds to a review on her own listing it does not show an avatar but it has a link to her user profile. When Ann reviews another listing it shows an avatar but does not have a link to her user profile. Is this intentional? It doesn’t seem right. The avatar is generated automatically, I don’t care about that. What I care about more than anything is there are 4 reviews/comments on reviews and none of them are showing on her user account.

I thought “Maybe this is because she had an account before I installed UWP” but my profile is showing my reviews. and of course i had a profile before i installed UWP.

I am seeing a link to my profile on my comments. I get the same results even if I’m not logged in.

Also, on my profile the reviews show hyperlinks above every review to “https://secure.gravatar.com/avatar/bf8e200d5fddb2772afd10d8c12a7689?s=96&d=monsterid&r=g ”
I disabled avatars but that removed my profile picture. So i re-enabled them and then selected default “Blank”. The profile picture returned but so did the hyper link only it changed slightly of course.

Now we are seeing no comments where there should be three. Originally I shared that the post had 2 instead of 3. Now there are zero.

Alex, is “To further customize your site you can create your own custom CSS or hire a developer.” your signature because I notice you say that a lot.

I understand I can create my own CSS or pay a developer. I’m already paying a developer a lot of money right now for more significant things, that is something I thought GD would do that it doesn’t do (recurring Affiliate payments).

This though is something simple I would imagine someone here could easily provide support for. Showing the avatar over and over and over is completely unnecessary and makes no sense. Because I think the developers would like their product to work and look as good as it could I thought they would care and want to know and even appreciate me sharing this. I get the feeling from your comment you don’t feel the same. Isn’t this forum here for support, reporting bugs, and even odd things like this so UWP can improve?

And is it always best to compensate for things like this with CSS? Or, could there actually be a better way to do this in the code so no one has to add CSS unnecessarily. I would rather that not be for me to decide.

Anyways, I’m not sure how to change this CSS to make it work right now. What you provided is not working. So I’m assuming you’re just giving me an example, not something that works. I don’t have time right now to make UWP look logical. I’m trying to get the site going and would prefer to test GDV2. So, I’ll just continue to hide/not use it and be further from buying the additional addons until this core one works/looks right.

Unless there is someone else who would like to please supply me the CSS needed to make these completely unnecessary avatars go away on the comments page?

Alex, in the end, if I want to customize something that is for my unique, project specific needs I can see how your suggestion would be appropriate. But, don’t you think everyone would prefer to not see redundant Avatars? Or do you think this is just me being picky so I should go do it on my own? I’m just trying to understand so in the future I don’t waste my time, your time, or anyone else’s time. I’m really just trying to make things better and not waste time.

It would be neat to at least by default see/sort users based how much they’ve done to their profile. My profile, because it’s my site is the most complete. It would be inspiring for others to see my profile and ones following that which are more complete. However, my profile is almost last by default.

I’m not implying I prefer sorting by completeness over proximity. I think ideally it would do both; show users by location/proximity somehow and have an option to show users based on whether they have a profile photo and/or cover photo.

I think a lot of sites, like YouTube and facebook base profiles off of completeness. I believe they don’t even make them public or allow other features without a profile pic and cover. I really like the idea of UsersWP and would love to see it as useful and effective as possible. Right now I don’t really want users to see other users though because I feel like I need to have more rhyme and reason to how they’re displayed.

If users aren’t based on location this makes it hard to find someone you may know. This really inhibits it potential to be a social thing. It seems like that is the direction UWP is trying to go, to be condusive for a social side of a directory.

So, profile completeness and location ideally would drive the list of users page.

Hey, thanks, I’ll archive this for now. I would like to move it. But, right now I’m I am inundated with getting my site right via GeoDirectory. I read through GD last night and got real excited about version two. Now I’m all freaking because I just spent the last month and a half building on V1 and just spent over $1,200 on developing an addon for my site… I really want to try out V2 and that’s all I can think about right now…

Thanks Alex. I think it is definitely going to be important for userswp to be a good complement to a global directory that users are appear by location somehow. This is really how all socail global directories work. If there were thousands of users worldwide or potentially significantly more it would be pretty useless as a social directory otherwise.

However, I still see plenty of value in UWP for my purposes since my site is more about listings. It may be nice for those creating the listings to showcase their work and/or promote their user accounts as affiliates. But, other than that it may be hard to extend it’s social functionality otherwise.

    Thanks Stiofan,

I had already tried this. “bio” isn’t in there. Sorry, I didn’t explain this because I figured you would know this.

    https://veganlinked.com/profile/vegan/bio/

I changed the name of bio to “My Vegan Story” in the “Form Builder”. If you look at my profile via the link above you’ll see the bio titled this way.
