I saw this issue reported in another thread that’s over two years old, so I felt it may have a different cause in the current version.

I recently updated the plugin, and now the Registration form does not work. It only shows the “Accept Terms” checkbox and “Create Account” button.

In the form builder, all of the fields were displayed twice, but not showing at all on the Registration Page.

I was able to remove some of the fields, and when I add them back, they display. However, the Username and Password fields cannot be removed and they do not display on the front end.

If I click “Create Account,” a new account is created with random username and passwords. An error, however, is generated, saying that illegal characters were used in the user name.

I have run all of the available site updates and am loaded with the latest version of UsersWP, and I did try to deactivate and reactivate the plugin. I do have some settings tweaked and have some users registered, so I don’t want to do a full uninstall if I can avoid it. I don’t want to have to start from zero with data and have all of the current users have to re-enter their data.

I do have full access to the DB, and am comfortable working with SQL, so if the cleanup involves manually “tweaking” data, I am open to that solution.

Any idea what’s wrong and how to fix it?

    Thanks! 🙂

    Hi,

Your website is going under maintenance multiple times and taking too much time to load. I see the message “Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a minute.” when I visit the site.

    Regards,
    Patrik

Instead of just deactivate and reactivate, try going through the complete process of uninstalling, reinstalling, and then reactivating.

Some of the issue you mention can be related to the server running out of resources when it is trying to install the plugin.

It sounds like your server is underpowered. You may want to look into an upgrade if you are running into maintenance error warning issues regularly.

Wow! That process really messed things up. I had the site nearly ready to launch. I might have to revert to a backup, but I need a way to fix this error without destroying my site. :/

I think I have everything pretty close to where it needs to be. I need to run some more tests yet. However, the “More Info” tab in the profile does not display, no matter what I do. I saw a thread from April that mentions this issue, but the plugin has changed since then and no longer has the options mentioned in the thread.

Any idea what is the issue?

Have you used the Profile Tabs UI yet?
You would click on the “More Info” there and it will appear as a tab

UsersWP – Form Builder – Profile Tabs – Click More Info

Also, these are what I can see on the front end: (Dummy accounts removed because of going live with the site.)

I re-saved the settings after setting a couple of the fields to show in More Info and it works now. Please check.
