In UsersWP Settings General> Register, I have Registration Action set to “Require Email Activation”
I have been getting many spam registrations this morning using fake emails. The accounts are being created even though no “email activation” has occurred.
I installed and set up UsersWP Re-Captcha in addition to using invisible re-captcha with GeoDirectory and Ninja Forms. Even so, I tested this myself and was able to create a new user with a fake email address requiring no email activation.

How do I enable custom fields to display as a tab / in profile settings?

Correction on the above comment: the new user was wondering if it is possible to “not make their user profile public” from the front end. And I see now that option is on the privacy form. So, nevermind, sorry about that. I just got thrown off guard because I haven’t notice a user adjust their privacy settings before 🙂
Just to be sure, do custom fields set to “let user decide” default to “Yes”? Can I select what it defaults to? I’m assuming they all default to yes.
Lastly, on a different note, how can I make this custom field “Vegan Story” be the first tab that shows?

I looked further the problem reading the first line:

My Form Builder has the field: username inactive.
So I had to activate the field to make it work, however, I don’t want the field to be active. The reason for this is because it’s easier for customers to remember only their email address. I believe if we deactivate a field in the form builder then it shouldn’t crash in looking uwp_account_username in class-forms.phpPlease let me know.

Hi,
Your custom field called my vegan story has an “is public” set to “let user decide” in the form builder. Which means this field will not display directly on the user profile page but the user has to make it public from their account privacy setting. If you want to make it public for all then you need to change the custom field is public from “let user decide” to “yes”.

I see, my apologies, I must not have looked at the list view close enough… but I was mainly interested in the grid view showing certain fields. I understand now why it would break the layout, if a user had not filled out a field.
In this project it is important for users to be able to see certain fields quickly or better yet, search for or filter users by certain fields.
Is it possible to add an advanced search/filter to the users page in order to filter users by custom fields?

I was able to successfully import all my users including the custom fields. Thank you so much for your help.
There was one issue. My first import, I didn’t include a user_id in the CSV import file since that field is set to auto increment in the database. When I did this, the first name, last name and display name did not import, but everything else did.
Then I tried again. But this time I checked to see where the auto increment was in the database, and started there to assign all my users a user_id in the import CSV file. When I did this, everything was imported correctly including the WordPress core fields and the custom fields from your plugin. Seems like a bug to me, but maybe not.
So I’m good to go now. Thanks again for all of your help.

Thanks for noticing the issue. We have applied the fix for custom fields and will be available in the next release of the plugin. If you want to try on your site then please provide us the FTP details in private reply and we will do the changes on your site. Please note there will be no new custom fields added while import and only the existing custom fields in the current site will be imported.

I did exactly as you suggested and it will not import the custom fields. In fact, I’m getting some strange results as I try to troubleshoot this.
If I DO NOT add a user_id to the import file, and let the auto increment add the ID, the username and email will be imported, but the first name, last name, and display name (along with all custom fields) will not be imported.
If I DO add a user_id to the import file, the username and email, first name, last name, and display name WILL be imported, but not the custom fields.
When I added text to the BIO field, that was imported along with email, first name, last name, and display name, but none of the custom fields.Attached is the exported file I used to build the import file and also the text user import file (with just 1 user for simplicity).
Any suggestions?

I would delete the users imported incorrectly 1st except 1. Add custom fields to that user from WP back end and export the file. That way you’ll have certainty that the file has correct headings.
At that point add the data back and try to import again.

Yes, I created the custom fields before I attempted the import.
If your import should support the custom fields I created, then maybe something was wrong with my file. However, it did import their usernames, first and last names, emails, and display name (full name). So I would think the file was correct. If it was not correct, I would expect the import to fail.
Now that I commented out the email notification during importing, I can try to import them again. Should I delete the current users or will the import script just update the current users?
