    Hello,

    I am unfortunately running into the same issue I had a few months ago.

    Yesterday while trying to format the Profile page, I tried to update a field to show in the “profile side” location and ran into the “Column change failed, you may have too many columns” error again. So, as before I re-added the fields for Facebook Page, phone number, website, Active State(s), and User Role.

    Any user info entered into those fields prior to re-adding them appears to have been lost, again (I think the info had been lost before I attempted to re-add the fields not in the process).

    This wasn’t much of an issue before but now I’m having new users sign up more regularly and don’t want to be losing their data.

    I only have 12 fields so I’m not sure how there are “too many columns”.

    Hi,
    

    This error generally coming from the database table update failed. Whenever you create a new field, it will add a new column for that field in the Database. So I would suggest you discuss with your hosting provider about why adding columns to the database fails and if there are any limits of adding columns then ask them to increase.
    

    Please make sure you keep the same key while recreating the fields otherwise the data can be not displayed properly but as the table has the column with the same key, you can create field anytime and the data will be displayed properly.

    I did not get the error when creating NEW fields. Only when trying to SAVE settings for fields that are already there.
    

    Has anyone else reported losing data in connection with the “too many columns” error?

    Could you please check with the plugin devs if the current Mysql version ( 5.6 ) is supported by them?
