I can see the issue, as you describe it. I will ask the developers to take a look.
If you could, I recommend you deactivate and delete, then re-install and re-activate.

Did you try adding a “Shortcode” field? See the image below.
Once added, you place your shortcode in the field shown in the screenshot.

So the issue is that that UsersWP default avatar is not working on the users listing and profile pages. Yes?
On what page are you seeing that issue?

it doesn’t sound like you are using the options for the UsersWP default profile image.
This is the UsersWP forum, so, those are the UsersWP options available.
If you are using GD, then, the add listing page.
Likely to be a cache issue.
All of the pages where forms are shown should be excluded from cache.1) Not currently

I will ask the developers if they can provide an example of how to save a field outside of a form.
