The error Uncaught TypeError: jQuery(...).sortable is not a function means a script tried to use jQuery UI Sortable before it was loaded, or after another plugin replaced jQuery. Once a JavaScript error like this happens, the rest of the scripts on the page stop, so screens such as Edit User can look broken.
WordPress ships jQuery UI Sortable, and UsersWP loads it on the screens that use drag and drop, such as UsersWP > Form Builder and UsersWP > User Types. The error was reported on the Edit User screen with an old UsersWP version. If you see it today, work through these steps.
- Update UsersWP, its add-ons and WordPress to the latest versions.
- Clear any caching or script optimisation plugin, and turn off its JavaScript combine or minify options while you test. Combined scripts are a common cause of load order errors.
- Open the browser console (F12) and reload the page. Note the file name in the error, because it tells you which plugin’s script failed.
- Deactivate other plugins one at a time, or use the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin’s troubleshooting mode, until the error goes away. A plugin that loads its own copy of jQuery is the usual culprit.
- Switch to a default theme such as Twenty Twenty-Four to rule out the theme.
To see which line fails in readable code, add define( 'SCRIPT_DEBUG', true ); to wp-config.php. UsersWP then loads its unminified scripts. Remove the line when you are done.
If the error only appears with UsersWP active and everything else switched off, send us the full console error and your System Status report from UsersWP > Status.
