When a register form uses Require Email Activation, UsersWP marks each new account as unconfirmed until the user clicks the link in the activation email. You can list those accounts, resend the email, or activate them yourself from Users > All Users.

See which users have not activated

Go to Users > All Users. In the row of filters above the list (All, Administrator, Subscriber and so on), UsersWP adds Pending Email Activation with a count. Click it to list only the accounts still waiting for activation.

Users who are not in that list have either activated their account or signed up through a form that does not need activation.

Activate a user or resend the email

Hover over a pending user in the list to see two extra links:

• Resend Activation sends a new activation email.
• Activate User activates the account straight away, so the user can log in without the email.

To handle several users at once, tick them, choose Resend Activation or Activate Users from the Bulk actions menu and click Apply.

Why an activation link stops working

If the link opens your login page with “Invalid activation key or account.”, the key in the link no longer matches the account. The usual reasons are:

• The link is more than 24 hours old. UsersWP checks the key the same way WordPress checks password reset keys, and those expire after one day by default.
• A newer activation email was sent. Each resend creates a new key, so only the latest email works.
• The user asked for a password reset after registering. WordPress keeps the reset key in the same place as the activation key, so the reset replaces it.
• The email program broke the link over two lines, or the user copied only part of it. Ask them to copy the whole address into the browser.

In each case, resend the activation email or activate the user yourself.

Give users longer to activate

The one day limit comes from the WordPress filter password_reset_expiration. This snippet raises it to three days. It changes password reset links too.

add_filter( 'password_reset_expiration', 'my_longer_activation_links' );
function my_longer_activation_links() {
	return 3 * DAY_IN_SECONDS;
}

If the activation emails do not arrive at all, check the email settings in Settings Overview for UsersWP > Emails > User Emails and test that your site can send email.
