UsersWP email bodies accept plain text with line breaks or HTML, as long as the Email type is set to HTML. If your registration email arrives as one long block of text, check that setting first.
Set the email type
- Go to UsersWP > Emails > Email Options.
- Under Email Template, set Email type to HTML.
- Save, then use the “Click here to preview your email template” link on the same screen to see the result.
In HTML mode, UsersWP turns each blank line in the body into a new paragraph and single line breaks into line breaks, so text typed with empty lines between paragraphs keeps its spacing. With Email type set to Plain text, every HTML tag is stripped and the mail client decides how the text looks.
The same screen sets the logo, footer text and the colours of the header, body and footer used in every UsersWP email.
Edit the email body
- Go to UsersWP > Emails > User Emails (or Admin Emails).
- Click Show Advanced at the top of the screen. The Subject and Body fields are advanced settings.
- Edit the Body of the email you want, for example Registration success email.
Leave an empty line between paragraphs. For more control, write simple HTML:
<p>Dear [#user_name#],</p>
<p>Welcome to [#site_name#]. Your account is ready.</p>
[#login_details#]
<p>You can log in here: [#login_url#]</p>
<p><strong>Next step:</strong> add a profile picture from your account page.</p>
Keep the tags in square brackets, such as [#login_details#] and [#login_url#]. They are replaced with the user’s details when the email is sent, and the list of tags each email supports is shown under its Body field. Removing [#login_details#] from the forgot password email removes the reset link, for example.
Stick to basic tags like paragraphs, links, bold text and lists. Email clients ignore most CSS, so styling is better done with the colour settings on Email Options. The full list of settings is in Settings overview for UsersWP > Emails > Email Options.
