Answers to common UsersWP questions about emails and notifications. Click a question to open the answer.
Each email’s subject and body can be edited in UsersWP > Emails, under User Emails and Admin Emails, where you can also switch single emails off. The Email Options tab has the sender name and address, the email type (HTML or plain text), a logo, colours and a preview link.
To change the layout beyond that, copy the template you need from wp-content/plugins/userswp/templates/emails/ to your-theme/userswp/emails/ and edit the copy. Plain text versions are in the plain folder.
Leave placeholders such as [<span></span>#login_details#] and [<span></span>#login_url#] as they are, because they are replaced when the email is sent. The text [<span></span>#login_details#] puts in, like the account activation message, comes from the plugin’s language file, as do the form error messages, so translate those with the other plugin strings. Text you typed into the email settings is not in the language file, so write it in your own language there. See How To Translate Or Localize UsersWP.
The forgot password email is in UsersWP > Emails > User Emails, under Forgot password email. Click Show Advanced to see the Subject and Body fields.
The default body uses the [<span></span>#login_details#] tag, which UsersWP fills with its own text (“You have requested to reset your password…”) and the reset link. Those sentences are part of the UsersWP translation, so translate them like the rest of the plugin, for example with Loco Translate. See How To Translate Or Localize UsersWP.
To control the wording yourself, write the Body in your own language without [<span></span>#login_details#] and add the link with the [<span></span>#reset_link#] tag, for example <a href="[<span></span>#reset_link#]">Reset your password</a>. That tag only has a value in the forgot password email and the WordPress new user notification email. Developers can change the generated text with the uwp_forgot_password_message filter.
